If your organization uses SoftArc's FirstClass communications system, you can integrate TeamAgenda's sophisticated calendar and time management capabilities into your FirstClass system.
• Direct E-Mail Communication
TeamAgenda works directly with FirstClass, and TA-Server will synchronize the TeamAgenda Address Book and the FirstClass Directory automatically. FirstClass users appear as external contacts in the TeamAgenda Address Book, and TeamAgenda users appear as remote names in the FirstClass Directory. You can send e-mail to a FirstClass user directly from the TeamAgenda address book.
• Invite FirstClass Users to TeamAgenda Meetings
TeamAgenda users can send meeting notifications to FirstClass users directly from their agendas, as they would to any TeamAgenda user. TeamAgenda users will see the meeting appear in their agendas, and in their Notification windows, while FirstClass users will receive a FirstClass e-mail message inviting them to the meeting. A FirstClass user can Accept or Decline to participate, or use a MailTo link to send any other reply that may be needed. When a FirstClass user Accepts or Declines to attend, the status of the meeting will be updated automatically in TeamAgenda.
1. System Requirements
======================
TeamAgenda v.3.0 or higher.
FirstClass Server v.2.5 or higher or FirstClass Intranet Server v.4 or higher.
2. Configuring a FirstClass Gateway for TA-SERVER
==============================================
NOTE: All FirstClass Configuration is done from the FirstClass Intranet Client or the FirstClass Client v3.5
1. Decompress the file containing the TeamAgenda/FirstClass integration files:
• in Windows 95, decompress the FCLASSGW.ZIP file into the TSERVER directory;
• in Windows NT, decompress the FCLASSGW.ZIP file into the [drive letter]:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\TASERVER Directory;
• on Macintosh, decompress the FirstClass.sit file onto the Desktop, then drag the contents of the FirstClassGW folder (not the entire folder) into the TA-SERVERƒ folder.
2. Open the FirstClass Intranet Client or the FirstClass Client v3.5 using the Administrator account.
3. Open the Gateway Folder.
4. Create a new Gateway Settings file (choose Gateway Settings from the Add submenu in the Admin menu).
5. Use the name of your TA-Server as the name for the Gateway Settings file.
6. Enter the following information in the Gateway Configuration box:
• The "Server" address must be the IP address of your TA-Server.
• The "Zone" must be "*".
• Enter a "Remote Server Serial Number". You may choose any number greater than 2990000000.
• Check the following options: "Export Directory Names in Groups", "Replicate existing items" and "Use remote names to validate incoming mail".
• If you wish to use a password for the gateway connection, click the Directory button and enter the password in the "Password:" field.
7. In the FirstClass Intranet Client or the FirstClass Client v3.5:
• in Windows 95 or NT, open GWSHELL.FCS;
• on Macintosh, open GATEWAY SHELL SETTINGS;
then click the Setup button.
8. Enter the following information in the Service Setup box.
• The "User ID" must be the Remote Server Serial Number chosen in step 6.
• The "Server" must be the FirstClass Server IP Number.
• "Login automatically" must be checked.
• Use the TCP/IP Setup button to enter the correct port number to connect to your FirstClass server.
• Make sure that the file TCP-IP.FCP, inside the FCP folder, has the same port number as GWSHELL.FCS (Windows) or GATEWAY SHELL SETTINGS (Macintosh).
9. In Windows 95, in TA-Server choose Email Gateway from the Configuration menu.
In Windows NT, open the TeamAgenda Server Control Panel, then select the FirstClass Gateway Tab.
On Macintosh, choose FirstClass from the Configure Email Gateway submenu in the TA-Server menu.
• Check "Enable FirstClass Mail Gateway".
• Enter your "FirstClass Server Name" (in the FirstClass client, choose System Profile from the Admin menu to find it).
• Enter your Gateway ID (the Remote Server Serial Number chosen in step 6).
• Check "Synchronize FirstClass Directory" (Windows) or "Import FirstClass local users as TeamAgenda contacts" (Macintosh).
• Check "Publish TA-Server Directory" (Windows) or "Export TeamAgenda users as FirstClass remote users" (Macintosh)
• Enter the synchronization update frequency.
To "Enable Form Processing", ask for our special FirstClass Client that includes five forms (starting ID #2000).
NOTE: Directory synchronization is triggered by TA-Server, not by your FirstClass server. If you attempt to manually trigger synchronization from the First Class Client using the Gateway Settings file created in step 4, your FirstClass server log will record an error ("Server Not Found").
